The Maari-Misan Residence is situated in Mansouria in close proximity to the archaeological site on the Giza plateau at the outskirts of Cairo. The design of the house forms a courtyard that integrates an opulent garden that it is situated within, whilst providing a roof top that would offer spectacular views towards the Great Pyramids of Giza. A spiralling gallery circulation wraps around the courtyard to connect the garden to the roof top through a dynamic, interior and exterior itinerary. Simultaneously the courtyard plays a vital role in the passive cooling strategy, which integrates the natural circulation of wind under and through the building whilst providing a form where the first floor performs as a shading device for the rest of the building.
